I’ve been broadcasting for nearly 30 years and I’ll tell you, I can’t wait to broadcast at the old high school on Friday night in “The Pit”.  I spoke with long time broadcaster Jack Van Schelven who broadcasted Grand Haven games from 1969 through 1997.  According to Jack: “The crowd was on top of you. The band was fantastic and the atmosphere was like no other.  There were some great games there and Coach Al and later Coach Craig knew how to use the smaller gym against their opponents”.

Jack did basketball games for 33 years and even called games for Western Michigan University for a few years.  He’s a great friend and was one of the best announcers I’ve ever met.  I can’t wait to have him on the air for a few minutes on Friday night!
